It's only half gone... I figure if I just got myself a nice thick steel plate and welded myself together a new box to fit over the old one (probably just three sides, and a top, that way I can avoid the front section that faces the operator on the seat which is still in good shape), so I can house my 12 volt battery. The old box is missing all but two sides and it is horribly rusted and corroded. I figure I can make a new one for about $20, not including a can of AC orange Spray Paint.

You can buy new aftermarket WD boxes for about $65, but if you have a good bottom and good rear, (with the flanges for the ammeter box), just get some 14 gauge steel bent for the other two sides and the top. Wirefeed weld it onto the good base and side. I just made one for my WF- they are not available from any source I have. Total material cost with mounting bracket was under #20.

Yeah, that's pretty much exactly my issue. Many thanks!

And if You put a spiral cell AGM battery (Optima red top or Exide orbital) in that new or repaired box, it and its paint will last forever. Never any corrosion with those batterys and very long battery life with proper care.
