Has anybody out there ever tried to put a 239 ford v-8 in a ford 8N? There was a picture on a web site that looked like that combination but no information about the owner or the tractor. I have a motorless 8N and the 239 but would like to know what problems will be encountered with the hood length and front motor mounts and axle mounting.

Bud - There's several flathead V8-powered 8N's that turn up at shows here in western NY. There's also a couple Ford flat 6 conversions (the other Ford in this image), also one with a small block Chevy. I believe all the flatheads are Funk conversions though I am not positive.

Cool looking (and sounding...) tractors!

John D thanks for the information and the picture of the conversion. Looks like the hood has to be extended as well as the control linkage and a different fuel tank. It might turn out to be quite a project. I obviously have to much time on my hands.

Bud - Don't forget you also need to add a governor (belt-driven above the right side water pump in this photo), as the 239 V8 is not governor-equipped.

Yeah doing a flathead V8 conversion is a lot of work. But when you finish you will have yourself an unusual (and attention grabbing!) tractor.

There was one at the Portland, Indiana show a couple of years ago with a flat-head Lincoln V12 in it. It sounded VERY nice!
