I have an IH 460 Utility tractor/loader/backhoe with a steering problem. I have tried many things including adjusting the steering gears, tightening the steering knuckles,adjusting the toe in, etc. It now appears (while moving alot of dirt with the loader) that the shock absorber in the right drag link may be weak. The left wheel seems to consistently respond to the steering but the right one has a mind of its own and wanders. I never see any movement in the shock absorber on the left link but can clearly see the right one going in and out. I suspect there may be a broken spring in the right one but have no idea how to disassemble the thing. Any advice and guidance will be greatly appreciated.
