Okay, here goes. Last week I had my starter rebuilt for my 1952 Super M. Just as y"all said the bolt moved when I replaced the cable and tore the innards up. Yesterday when I put everything back together she cranked right up but when she did I found I had to hold down the starter button where the cables hook up to in order to keep it running at which time I noticed the starter itself kept turning. Do I have a starter button problem? Does the starter continue to turn when the engine cranks? I did pull everything apart but was careful to mark everything for putting things back together. Please help.

Both of you guys were correct. I had one wire on wrong. All seems okay now. I truly appreciate all that you and everyone else on here do when it comes time to help another through your own knowledge and experience. Thanks again "soundguy" and "old."

Ditto what old said.. you must have the wire to your amp meter ont he starter side of the solenoid, not the battery side... thus coil only gets power while starter engaged.. etc..

Sounds like you have a wire out of place. Once the engine starts the starter will kick back and the starter shouldn't be turning any more. With out knowing what set up you have I can't help much more. If it has the correct starter push button then you just have the ignition wire on the starter side instead of the battery side and thats why you have that problem
