The manual for my "new" JD 620 says to flush the motor and transmission with a "flushing agent ". Would ATF be a good choice? If not what?

what i do to flush the old i-h tractors, for the rear end lube, drain about a gallon or so if the rear end lube, then add a gallon or so of kerosene to the differential. run the tractor around unloaded for a half a day or so, then drain the rear end. put the drain plug back in , add about 5 gallons of kerosene or diesel fuel. and let it set for a while, the pull the drain plug, and see how much goop comes out. if its bad strain the fuel with a paint strainer, and pour it in the differential with the plug out, keep straining the fuel and repeat as necessary. for the motor, before you drain the oil, add a quart of dextron atf fluid and let it idle for a while, then drain the oil. you can flush the engine with either kerosene or diesel fuel too. with the motor off, pour a gallon of fuel in the motor, let it set a while and then drain it. strain and repeat as necessary.
