I have a 50"s model H with interlocked shift gears. It does not have access through the top of the shifter like my 350 utility. Is there a relatively simple way to gain access to the forks to unlock the gears. It is currently locked in 4th gear. Your help would be appreciated

if you look at the base of the shifter, there is a casting coming up out of the deck. on the left and right side of the casting, you will see a metal plug on each side. you need to drive one side in a little with a drift and the other plug will pop out. if you look inside you will see a pin that holds the shifter in. drive that pin out the other way and the other cap will pop off. then you can lift the shifter straight up and out. go in with a long screwdriver and re-align the shift rails. if the end of the shifter is worn, it can be built back up with a welder.
