when i have the tractor in gear and get in a bine i cant get the tractor out of gear til i get a little slack . pulling a tree for instance by a chain the tractor gets stuck in gear in order to get the tractor out of gear you have to pull the tractor by a chain fall or such to get slack then its no problem the gears are fine the clutch seems fine. someone told me that if you take the shift arm off and put a little weld build up on the joint that would fix it[ true or not true ]or what would fix it joe

If the tractor is equipped with a torque amplifier, pull the lever back into low range. The transmission will usually then shift easily out of gear. When in high range after pulling a heavy load or going uphill, the transmission will "lock" and will not allow you to shift gears. Every IH tractor with the old style planetary torque amplifier that I have ever driven has done this.
