Everytime I push in the clutch on my tractor there is a clanking sound like something is banging against something else when I let the clutch out it goes away there is no grinding to put in gear and it seems to run fine. What do I do?

i have a 92 bmw and when i went to place the car into neutral to start it the clutch pedal went straight to the floor without engaging. i had to pull it up off the floor, is there a quick fix?

Sounds like the clutch throwout bearing is bad. That means splitting the tractor in most cases, the clutch may or may not need replacing, but if it is worn to a considerable degree, do it now, rather than split it again just to do the clutch. If the clutch has riveted linings, compare a new lining with yours to see how much wear has taken place- how much lining is left before you get down to the rivet heads. Rivet heads and flywheels don't get along very well with one another- if it's worn halfway or more- replace the clutch lining too.

The other person probaly hit the nail on the head for your problem. You didn't say what kind of a tractor you were talking about. Some if not all throw out bearings are greasable. Maybe that's all you need or perhaps a clutch adjustment. Check the free play in the pedal and adjust it to specs. I hate to say this, but when you hear the bearing making noise it's usually time to replace it. You can check the clutch while doing this job. You may or may not need a new clutch.

Sounds like the throw out bearing is going too far into the pressure plate and allowing the bearing guide to hit the clutch fingers.

It may be clutch replacment time.

Some of the smaller Farmalls will do this even with good clutch discs and properly set pressure plates if there is too little freeplay. Try increasing the pedal freeplay, but don't go so far as to not disengage the clutch.
