Today while mowing my field I noticed that the cap that holds the back of the left radius rod to my Ford 4cyl diesel 4000 (1964 vintage) was missing and the rod was free. I"ll try to find another cap next week, but I noticed that now the radius rod is a couple inches in front and above where the ball fits into the socket on the block. Ws something bent? I blocked the left front wheel and powered the tractor forward to see if the rod would be pushed back toward the socket, but no luck. Also, standing on the end of the radius rod pushed it down some but not quite down to the socket. Any ideas on how to get the rod end to fit into the socket when I get the cap would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Howard

Jack up the front of the tractor just enough to take the load off of the front axle, so you can jockey the axle around a bit on the front axle pivot pin.

Thanks Bob. I'll try that when I get the cap.

Bob's dead on.

Jack the front end to get it to move onthe king pin.

I'm not sure if the cap is the same as the 8n and naa ( I don't think the spacer is ).. but if the cap is the same.. john smith has one for sale... hafta ask someone if the cap part will fit yours..
