Help!! I have a late 70's 2600 ford 3 cyl. Diesel. We are having problems with the fuel system. All lines seem to be clear to injection pump and injectors. We have replaced the fuel injection pump and the injectors but we are still having a problem with getting fuel through the pump. We have bled the pump and the injectors but still only getting the smallest amount of fuel. Any tips on bleeding or pump adjustment. While working on it we have taken the front cover off to ensure proper timing. Everything looks good. Thanks

I am having a similar problem. My injection pump
was leaking around the cutoff valve, so I took the top off the pump and replaced the O-rings. Fixed the leak, However, now the pump does not get any fuel to the injectors. I have bled the filter and the pump. The pump will shoot fuel 3 feet out of the bleed screw. I take the lines loose at the injectors, as per the book, and crank the engine, but don't get any fuel.
Anybody have any ideas?

I would guess that when putting the top back on that you did not get the shut off pin into the horse shoe shape end of the slide that cuts the fuel off.

Thanks for the reply, I thought of that and took the top back off and checked.

You also need to bleed the filter(s) and the supply lines. The filter(s) generally have a bleed screw or bolt on the top of the filter housing to perform this task. Look in your owners manual or shop manual for instructions on doing this. ( Genrally you open the bleeder screw(s) and open the tank valve and close the bleeder screw(s) when nothing but fuel comes out of them.)

Is it possible that your fuel filters are clogged? There is a screen generally on the tank valve that gets crudded up. Have you checked that?

Have you bled the injectors?

You also need to make sure that that all the connections are tight to preclude sucking air in to the delivery line on the suction side of the pump.
