This is probably a dumb question but I am puzzled by this one. Maybe I am just missing the obvious.
I have had the M indoors for 4 years. Never broke down the rear axle casing or anything and have been painting the main body of the tractor. As I put the wheels back on it has rolled fine throughout my warehouse as i moved it from in my way to well more in my way. Finally decided to move it to my own garage so it wasnt quite so far away from me and I may be able to finish it. We rolled it right onto the trailer and I strapped it in. I put it in gear and trailered it home and Now she wont roll off the trailer. She is in neutral. After some time It shifted fine before the move. Now it seems that it wont slide into reverse and 4th?( whatever other gear is on the left most side of the diagram of the shift plate). Although it wont shift into those two gears it is in neutral.
The one condition that I am wondering about is it has been in a heated building for years and when we rolled it on to the trailer it wen out into pretty cold weather and sat outside on the trailer for 48 hours.
What else do I check for?

On our Farmall 560 the shifter rod would slip out of its slot and you could actually be in two gears at the same time, so the tractor wouldn't move even if the clutch was pushed in.

Can you turn the engine over just a little bit to see if it tries to move?

Well first off its not good to trailer one with it in gear puts things in a bind doing that and can cause other problems. Shifter may have slipped out of the rail, tranny may have water in it and if so and its cold enough to freeze you may have it locked up because of that. I would try to drain the tranny and see what you get. If no ice.water then take the top off and see if its still in gear. Also will it move with the clutch down?? If it does then its probably still in gear if not then you may have ice or its in 2 gears and thats a shifter problem

The shifter hasn't just slipped out of the fork and appear to be in neutral, has it?

Something else I'd check, is see if there is water in the transmission and now that it is outside, it froze. You might take it back to the warehouse and let it sit overnight and then see if it will move.

I can't imagine just moving it from heat to cold doing that.

There was some moisture in the transmission case and it was ice but really only condensation amounts not like any chunks. Everything in transmission seems to be in line and together and free moving. That was what I thought it was but seems not???
