we have an old neighbour that just bought a 435 john deere, his pride and joy. while he was restoring it,it accidently fell, breaking the bell housing, timing plate etc....he is so upset!! We are curious if any body could give us suggestions where we could look for or find these parts..as we understand this model is almost as rare as chicken"s teeth!!! so we are hoping to hear of some leads we could try

The bell housing from a 430 should fit. Anything in front of that is 435 specific. Try 2 Cylinder Plus in Mo. I got some parts from them for mine awhile back Good Luck.

I believe the back end of the tractor is from a JD 420 or a JD 430. You might look into that. Someone who is a really JD expert should be able to tell you.
I think they built about 6000 of them( I used to own the sixth one off the line). A fine tractor but the 2-53 Jimmy was tough to start in cold weather.
