Engine just quit, like it ran out of fuel. cracked fuel lines while pony motor was running and fuel pump is working, but not even any smoke. No oil pressure on gauge while turning over, like it has lost compression. I'm thinking it is a compression problem somewhere with the compression lever or valves. need some imput before I take the engine out. Inline 6 cylinder turbo charged caterpillar motor. thanks

Better see who you have no oil pressure first before going any farther.

thanks to all that replyed. looking at the service book, I beleive that if the oil pump is not working (or turning), this will not let the fuel rail portion let fuel in so I think I am going to drop the oil pan and check oil pump area first. thanks alot guys I will go to the crawler area and post again.

Pull valve cover and check for valve action.
The main engine oil pump is driven from the front crankshaft gear along with everything else but I can't see how you would have the fuel injection pump working and no oil pressure as they are driven from the same source. If there is no valve action, oil pressure or working injection pump I would suspect a broken crankshaft.

Been a long time since I"ve seen one of those. If i remember correctly (It"s been 40+ years!), there is a compression release for the main engine on the right side of the pony so when you get it strted, you can close the release.

Ask on the crawler forum. They'll be able to help. Dave
