Marvel vs Zenith carb

I need to replace the carb on my 1941 9N. Does anyone have an opinion on the Zenith carburetor over the stock Marvel-Schebler carb. The YTMAG parts site states that the Zenith out performs the original?

If the performance is generally the same, than my preference is to replace with an exact replica to keep the things stock.

Thanks,
Brian

Value bilt sells rebuilt carbs that are the correct one for your tractor. I my self would stay with a true MS carb. I have had some of the reproductions ones and they have been trouble and the same with the zenith.

Thanks for the advice. I looked at the Value Bilt site and their rebuilt carbs are $224 vs. $148 on the YTMAG site. The YTMAG site says "Cast Iron. Exactly like original," but it is unclear if they are rebuilt carbs or relicas.

Any insight into whether YTMAGs are rebuilt units as well or concerns with these units? I don"t want to spend the additional $75 unless necessary. The Value Bilt cost does include a $30 core fee, which explains some of the difference.

YTMAG -- PARTS FORD Carburetor, New - Black. Cast iron. Exactly like original. For 8N, 9N, 2N. (Part No: 8N9510C-Black)

Value Bilt -- Rebuilt Carburetors FD Model 8N,9N,2N 90593233.

Can't help you on that. I do know the value bilt ones are good. I can say it the carbs on this site are reproductions and if its like the one I have on my 8N its trouble from the got go.

Many that don't know how to fix MS carbs just want to sell you a new one. Most all parts are available to fix your old one unless the housing is busted or too much worn and missing. New repo MS carbs are available as well from other places. Unless they changed something most all the Zeniths are a universal replacement carb without the original linkage hookups so have to monkey and modify but will work fine if you get that part right.

It"s good advice. Unfortunately, I started with doing a rebuild, but I busted the head off the main jet when trying to remove it and am unable to get it out.

With regard to the Zenith carb, if I need to do modifications to get it to fit, then I"ll probably stick with the original model. I was only considering it if the performance was considerably better over the original.

Thanks,
Brain

I just ordered the new Marvel carburetor from this site instead of the Zenith. Same thinking as others here - don't want to mess with modifications.

Are there any comments from people who have purchased the Marvel carb from this website? Is it OK.

Thanks!!
