I've got a 1947 Farmall Cub-F. I was cleaning up the carb. and broke the main metering jet. (This is the IH carb. not the Zenith). Does anyone know where I can get a spare?

Gratefully, Llyn in Oregon

Did it break in an area where you could solder it?

I don't think so, unless you were REALLY skilled at soldering. It split right through the middle where there's a hole that goes all the way through. Not much surface area to solder...and there would have to be no spill-over as the screw/jet has to be able to screw into the side of the carb.

The screw/jet is made of brass. Does that require any special kind of soldering material? I'd need to file off any spill-over from the solder...I suppose I don't have anything to lose... Thanks.

Thanks. Even though it's expensive, I think we're just going to go with the re-build we found on this site. We've got to get into the field before it's too late to plant and don't want to risk another down-day (or week) if the solder doesn't hold. I appreciate the idea though. Llyn

i don't blame you... I've been soldering for decades... I sometimes will still repalce a part.. then solder the old one as a backup.. ( for parts that can be soldered..e tc.. )
