I have a 1940 Ford 9N that's just been sitting around for while. It's in salvagable condition from what I've looked at except it needs some work. The rear rim is completely rotted out and there is a hole in the radiator. If anyone can give me some advice on where to start it'd be much appreciated.

One big decision comes before you do much of anything. You need to decide if this is to be a working tractor or a full-on restoration. That will determine how you proceed.

After that, I'd check to see how bad of shape the tractor is in before I get it. If it's really bad, you might be better off looking for another tractor to restore (even if it costs more).

I would pass on this one ....there are plenty of tractors out there....It's best to pay more for the tractor ,right at the start.... than work on ,junk.....If you do it right ,the end result will be about the same investment and a lot less work....when you look at low priced tractors ,,some guys loose interest half way through and sell loosing money....I won't buy a tractor that I can't have finished in 6 mo.,working on part time..... .
