I have a 1946 farmall A (gas). I just bought her two years ago and have been working on her since. The problem is: She starts up easy and when left to idle, it sounds rough. Even when I have it mid to full throttle it still is rough. It sounds like it is running with the choke partly on. I have rebuilt the carb and still no change. I try to adjust the idle mixture screw-no change in engine speed or roughness. I cannot adjust the main fuel setting because this carb has only a plug and no needle valve. I have been thinking of buying the needle jet used on the kero carb to see if it makes a difference.
Well anyway, when you take a ride, she is a little rough running-no backfiring just rough. Then out of no where it dies as if you turned the key off. One turn of the crank and she fires right up. It runs like this all day. I have also rebuilt the magneto as well.

Any suggestions ????? ????

check the filter screen on the elbow where the gas line goes into the carb. sounds like it's not letting in enough gas. good luck
