I have a New Holland 273 baler and I just can't seem to get the slight banana shape out of my bales. Works great otherwise. I try to keep the windrows even and have pretty decent hay to feed it. Any suggestions?

I have NH275. have had similar problem until I replaced bottom bearing on plunger (right next to blade) I had to push the plunger out the bale shoot. Then I followed manual adjustments for alligning plunger. (actually I started with trying to do alignments but could not get full adjustment as the bearing wobbled). now, no bananas!

Some of the new holland balers have four hay fingers that push the hay in the chamber and some have six. The ones with six do a beter job of pushing the hay more even in the bale chamber. The ones with four tend to push more hay into the left side facing the direction you are traveling. If the bales are shaped long on the left and short on the rignt this may be the cause. If they are banana shaped up and down then you may need to tighten the tension on the bale chamber.

Also make sure you don't have any broken or excessively worn fingers ... you can get all kinds of weird-shaped bales if you do! Cim.
