Help, I removed the starter for cleaning and painting, trying to reinstall and having trouble.
I got the first part off the bendex over the flywheel, but can not get the back half to clear the flywheel, very tight.
are there any secrets to installing this starter.
any suggstions would be appreciated.

Try taking the coolant drain valve out just in front of the starter and it may give you enough room to move. If not, With the new starter drives you get today you may have to grind out a little of the casting at the 2 o'clock position of the starter hole in the casting. dont do too much as you want it to be covered by the starter after it is installed.
Good luck
