Wondering about repair of a crack around the base of filler neck on a JD 2240. Diesel returns into the neck so fuel kinda oozes out around the top of tank. Braze, weld , jb weld??? Any hints would be appreciated.

I used JB Weld on a Gleaner diesel tank a year ago- about a dozen leaks on spot welds on the bottom. Holding over a year- took the tank off to completely clean, dry, grind spots to bare metal. Previous JB patch on wet tank did not hold.

We had a 4020 that rusted out a bunch of pin holes from the underside of the tank, we fiberglassed it and has been holding for 12 years now. Bought the little kit from Walmart i believe.

I would braze it....if it cracked once it will need to be repaired stronger..... I guess you know you will have to have it clean, very clean, to get the brass to stick..... ..
