My Farmall M seems to be stuck in gear - any ideas on how to get it loose?

The end of the shifter may be worn. You may consider having the end built up to fit into the slots. My Super M was the same way. Not an unusual problem.

Remove the shift lever...Now with a large screw driver move all the shifting forks in line,too geather replace shifter....somebody is speed shifting your tractor.....

My M did this once Ijust rocked the tractor back and foward and it released. Never has done it again.
