Does anyone know of an easy way to remove bearing collar on the rear axle shaft I need to get off to change oil seals

Yes, its a shrink fit and you have to split it off with a cold chisel according to the workshop manual at least. I think I attacked mine with a disc grinder first. When you get the collar off the bearing pulls off - at least there is nothign else hilding it but the press fit. If you're very lucky it will pull off by hand BUT its more likely to need 15 tons force (literally) on a press to get it off. I ended up taking mine to the MF dealer to remove as I was concerned that I'd apply more and more force and end up breaking it.

That said I seem to remember some other postings about this and others may have discovered an easy way.
