Model number 154 - 4 cyl - need to know how to replace the clutch pressure plate, throw out bearing - what ever is needed for a clutch replacement in this tractor - if you can't explain, can you recommend a good manuel with pictures that would be of some help. Thanks!

Kgoings, you have a neat little tractor! On my 154, I've "modified" the little C60 engine; it now puts out 22 PTO horsepower on my Dynamometer!! I pull 2-14 in., 3-point plows with mine (in DEMO mode)...I once TURNED DOWN $5,000 CASH from a guy who was watching me plow with it. ALL the Farmall/International CUBS were "underpowered"; this is BY DESIGN. The IH factory KNEW that certain owner/operator IDIOTS would try and pull 3 plows, 8 ft. disk (etc) with the CUBS. They were DESIGNED to be the BEST One-ROW Cultivating tractor in the WORLD (and they are)!!!!! I go thru a lot of clutch changes on my 154 and 185; but then I'm an EXTREME POWER user. Call me @ (801) 920-1214 of send me an e-mail; I'll talk you thru a Clutch change AND where to buy your parts!!

I had one of these@@##$%%^$# Loboy's my self, once, and it ate clutch assemblys for breakfast dinner, and supper. You will probably have a terrible case of price shock if you have to buy parts from IH-Case. The clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing is at the transmission end of the drive shaft, right in front of the transmission input shaft. Be careful not to strike the round driven disc on the trans shaft hard, it will break easy!(been there, did that)very expensive blunder! Be sure your disk to input shaft on transmission bolt stays tight, if it wallows loose then you have to go into the transmission to replace it $$$$$$. The clutch works just like the flywheel types, the pressure plate, etc., the real killer on this job is the fact that the clutch to shaft from the motor and the pressure plate all have to be very close in line, finally had to cut my drive shaft and install universal, and pillow block bearings to line it up to stop it from giving so much trouble. The clerance on the clutch fingers was only about .020, and then the clutch brake that stops the drive line so that you can shift gears is about that much, don't remember exact figures, you will need a manual. I finally got the thing running and found me a sucker, it was very underpowered for any thing but a lawn mower, low gear was too slow and second was usually too fast, it only has three forwards and high was a road gear only, had a pitifully weak front end, and the starter-generator will drive you nuts when it acts up. Happy times to you, jump right into it, and have fun pulling your hair out!!!
