I am currently restoring a 1959 Fordson Dexta Diesel and was wondering if anyone knew where to find the tachometer and tach cable, and the water temperature gauge and all the accessory items for that as well.

Any help is much appreciated.

thanks
Greyson.

The address given previously is wrong. The correct address is www.speedograph-richfield.co.uk
Hope this helps.

Welcome to the " I need a Dexta tach club". Everyone is looking. I know where there is an NOS one for 300. If you can find a source, let me know. The problem with the Dexta/Major tachs is that they are an oddball size. Did your machine have one? There are places that fix them.
Good luck

Thanks for the info.

Where was the NOS one for 300?

My tractor has one, but the face is smashed, the dial is crushed, and the internal workings are frozen. (plus no cable)

Do you think they could rebuild that? I'd try that if they could do it. Who rebuilds them, and I'll ask.

Thanks

If you have one, you're 1/2 way there. The oddball diameter makes the case very hard to come by. Check out Bobs Speedometer Service in Detroit. The new one is at British Tractor Wreckers in saskatchewan. Do you know there are a lot of different ones that all look the same? Be careful! You need to know gas or diesel- early or late. Gas goes clockwise, diesel counterclockwise.Early shows pto @ 1550 rpm, late shows pto @ 1800.

Let me know. I spoke to that guy too. I can't remember his name either. As far as temp gauge goes, apart from NOS, I think we are stuck. Tach cable should be easy at any speedo shop.

I found the guy's name

This is a reply to my inqury:

"can certainly help with supply of flex cable and tractormeter flex cable 23 pounds stg tractormeter 99.95 pounds stg plus mail charge
or ups (whichever method you prefer) need to confirm with you which tractormeter you require (clockwise or anticlockwise) but no problems in supply
regards Dave Musson"
For further information visit www.speedographrichfield.com

I also asked about a water temp gauge, he said this about it:

regret at present do not have new or replacement temperature gauges available. do you have an old one which needs refurbishing or restoring. if so we can do this and can restore to new spec if required

I am looking for other gauge sites who have one, and this one seems one of the best I have come across.

Also, I have pictures of my Unrestored Dexta
Just search in the Gallery under Dexta and you will see with Greyson Noles beside it
