Oil in water

I left my IH 574 out in the rain and a lot of water apparently ran down the exhaust and into the oil. Not realizing that this had happened, I drove it for several hours. It began to lose power. I discovered the water in the oil and replaced the oil and filter and plugs, but now it won't start. What should I do? What damage do you think occurred?

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Are you sure the water in oil is not from a b;own head gasket or cracked block-head.I don't think you can get much water into the oil from an exposed exahaust pipe.If it won't turn over good you might have scored the rod and main bearings because of low lubrication.

It must be a gas, with the plugs. Does it have spark? Does it have fuel? If you suspect internal damage, does it turn over very hard? I had a 464 about 25 years ago, but I don't remember whether the oil pan came off easy. As a last resort you can remove the pan and look at the bearings. See what others say.
