I thought I did a good job of rebuilding a late B carburator. It will only run on full choke. I am ready to send it to a professional. Who out there does quality work at an affordable price? I see lots of adds in the magazines and have been warned that some are not as good as they say they are. Thanks for your suggestions. Fred W.

I have only had a handful of 2 cyl carbs apart so I can't give much advice exept to go over every passageway in the carb very carefully. If you do send it away, the best place I know of is ROBERTS CARBURETOR REPAIR in Spencer, Iowa (712-262-5311 or www.robertscarbrepair.com).I don't know what your budget is,but if you don't mind spending some money Roberts is definitely the way to go. When they are done with it every passageway will be cleaned and properly sized and every part will be made to be better than new. They even run it on a test engine to fine tune it. When you get it back it will probably be better than it was when it came from the factory.

Before you throw in the towel, be sure you have a good flow of fuel to the carburetor. Turn off the fuel. Drain the fuel bowl on the carb. Turn on the fuel and see if it starts to flow in a good stream. If it does and the problem persists, you have a clogged carb probably. Go the the John Deere board and read some of Clooneys postings about carburetors. His advice is the greatest!

That is all good. The float is correct. Don't know what else to do, Thanks Fred

Fred, Did you pull all the plugs out of the carb and check ALL passages? Also did you pull the nozzle and check to see if it is plugged? I completely strip my carb and soak it in MEK (methol ethol ketone) for a day. This removes all "gunk" left in the passages by fuel. Then I make sure all passages are open by inserting a piece of small diameter Tig wire in each one. If you still can't get it to work, there are several posts about the John Deere carb shops on YTMag.
