I am restoring a JD MT...the fan and generator belts are toast, got the gen-belt off, but I can not remove, to replace, the fan belt because the gap between the head of the crankshaft and fan pulley is too small. Are there any tricks to getting the crankshaft loose to move it back enough to slip the belt through, and more importantly, get the new one on??? I have sprayed WD-40 in both the front and underneath the c-shaft...did not budget with a pipe-wrench & pipe extender...the air-intake breather, fan/spindle and radiator are all removed for leverage...hope someone can help! Thanks in advance.

Is the engine frozen, if so why are you putting a fan belt on? The usual method is to cut the old belt, place the new belt in the pully grove turn the engine over and the new belt has enough give to squeeze past the tight spot. Good luck.
