SAE 30 non-detergent.

....but a lot of people use HiTran if their unit it in good condition to prevent cross contamination with other tractors.

Yes, but I think most people who use tractors regularly already know that.

I didn't mean to step on your toes, I know that it's obvious to you and I and most others, but there are many people out there who don't know this. I was just adding a point to your post, if I had realized you were that sensitive, I would not have posted.

I'm not that sensitive. If the person posting has only that tractor, then 30 weight is fine. Farmers and people who use the equipment all the time know what to use. No offense taken. Next time I'll qualify by saying "--unless you share equipment with another make/later model of tractor,etc--"

This conversation is ancient history but just in case: I'm one of those 'new to the game' people; my Farmall H manual says the lift all uses the same fluid as the trans / diff - which the manual says should be 90 weight. My lift all works for about 20 minutes or so, then gradually loses power until it won't even pick up the blade. I've just drained some very dirty fluid - more like gunk - and replaced the tran/diff with 90 weight. No improvement. I'm looking for answers ...
