Does anyone out there know where a Delco Distributor can be sent to to be rebuilt? Thanks, AWB

Put a Petronix ignition in. Electronic ignitions are inherently immune to some of the problems that a points type distributor will have when things start to get worn.

If the shaft bushings get worn enough the pickup can get too far from the shaft at times and won't work right...better check your runout and replace the bushings, etc if needed before you go putting in an electronic setup. I had a '91 Chevy truck that ran pretty good until it warmed up enough for the idle to come down and then the 'service engine soon' light would come on and you'd be in 'limp-home' mode until it cooled off. The self diagnostic code indicated a loss of ignition signal, turned out the distributor shaft bushings were so worn that it would start wobbling at low speed and the sensor would loose the signal enough of the time to put the truck into the 'limp-home' mode. A rebuilt distributor solved what was a REAL irritating problem.... :-)

Good automotive electric shops rebuilding all
types of starters, generators and alternators
do that work in my area. Some also sell the kits
and bushings so you can do it yourself. Check
the phone book and call around. If you stikeout,
email me and I'll give you the name of a couple
of rebuild shops.
