One of the mounting ears on the carburator to my JD G has broken off, a little more that half of the bolt hole is gone. And it fell off while I was driving down the road so I don't have the peice. It must have broke before because it was brazed up pretty ugly when I bought it. I've got welding rod that will weld cast to steel, and was going to cut off the broken part and weld on a new flange, but we later decided there was too much brazing around the broken ear for the weld to stick. Anyone fix something like this before or have any suggestions? I'll try about anything to salvage the thing, priced new ones and they are $350-$450. Thanks.

Make your new piece and braze it back on. That will solve your old brass problem. Can also remove all brass by grinding and weld with 309 stainless.
