Remove the center wire from the distributer cap. Hold it 1/8 inch away from the block (but not with your hand), crank the engine and look for spark. Best done in the dark. If there is spark, you probably have corrosion in the cap towers. If no spark, the points could be not working or there's no voltage to the coil. Could be ignition switch, corroded or broken wires somewhere.

If your 45 has been converted over to 12 volts then you will have a ceramic piece on the side of the coil. To check this, just turn your switch on and check for power with a meter. Start with the ignition and take the check all the way through to the coil. This ceramic piece has a habit of going out and is inexpensive to fix. The last WD I worked on had this piece attached with a small hose clamp.
