The flat metal area behind the cutterbar (NH 488 if it matters) is rusting.... several perforations already! Any suggestions for repair. I was thinking fiberglass or sheet metal, but that is just a rookie's guess. Any advice re the do's & dont's of whatever I should use would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

either one would work fine if you wanted to use them. Just make sure you mold it in about the same shape that it was to begin with because that's what makes the freshly cut grass shoot out in nice little fluffy rows for it to dry out quick. Best tip though is to keep the bine sheltered and clean it off decently after using it and you will never have the problem again.. It's the old grass that stays on the bine for years with out being removed and getting wet over and over again that causes it to rust out. I have a NH 477 and love it. Good choice on your haybine!
