I have a 53 Ford Jubliee. I just rewired the
head lights. The left head lights works, however
the left one does not. I check the wires with a
test light and the wire is hot. The light will
not come on at all. I have new lamps. Has anyone
out there got any Idea's how I can get the lamp to
work??

Thank you, Hank

i understood your question !..... .. i ran new wire with a toogle switch and a in-line fuse holder straight to the battery so i would not have any ground problems ! took 15 20 min. done deal !

If the wires to both lamps are hot, the one that doesn't work most likely has a bad ground connection. Either that or the lamp or socket are defective.

I agree that the ground is bad. It is my understanding that this simply means that the current cannot complete the circuit back thru the frame and sheetmetal back to the battery. Basically all manufactures due this to save money in the manufacturing process. However after a number of years corrossion of the sheetmetal and frame can ruin the ground path back to the battery terminal. If this seems to be the problem, a simple solution is to run an extra trace or ground wire from the light socket back to the battery terminal.

I stand corrected. What I ment to say was the
right head lamp works and the left does not.

Sorry.

Is your system 6v or 12v ?First check your two lamps to see if there are of the correct voltage type if they are then check lamps at battery with two short jumper wires to make sure lamps are good. If you have voltage at the wiring at the lamp mounts take a dvom meter and check to see how much voltage you have it should match battery voltage then check the ground. 9 times out of 10 its a ground problem....
hope this helps...
