Hello All:

My 1946 2N is water is boiling and it appears it has vapor lock. After running the tractor for a while, when I turn it off, I cannot restart it. When I do turn it off, I hear the water boiling. How does one stop the water boiling and how does one test for vapor lock?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

More that likely, it's your gas boiling....If the tractor runs fine, and engine performance stays the same and does not diminish, that would be it. Also, a new gas cap should be installed, so that the tank "breathes" correctly.
Hope that helps,
AP
PS you can look this up one the "N" series board here at YTMAG.

Vapor lock refers to the vaporization of gas in the fuel line due to nearby engine or exhaust manifold heat and was a problem with some older trucks and cars. If you are overheating it is one of two causes, either your thermostadt is not opening up or your water pump is not working. If there are now leaks, most likey it is your thermostadt.
