I have a 4010 propane that has recently developed a problem that has me stumped. The tractor fires right up and runs great, but once it gets warm it will backfire, spit and sputter and then die. It will not start again until it has cooled off. Does anybody have any idea waht this could be? Any information would sure be appreciated. Thanks,

Make sure the fuel filter is not plugged. If it
isn't the fuel filter or frezing off you may have
a more srious problem. Back fire sounds like low
compression. Check compression on all the cyld.
The most difficult problem to find on a JD LP Gas
tractor was the ignition switch. It will crack and
after the tractor has run for a short or is under
load it will short out to the dash. This was a
problem with the original eq. JD switch that had a
porcalin back.

Sounds like the engine is starving for fuel. Check to see if the converter is icing over, if so check for water flow restriction, sometimes insufficent or partial water flow will cause this to happen, the converter is a heat exchanger of sorts. We used to see this a lot with LP fueled fork lifts, and also if it is given insufficent warm up time it will freeze over.
