I have the cork float out of the carb on my 1927 John Deere D and would like to reseal it. I have read before about a shelac used to reseal cork floats, but can't remember the specifics. If anyone has the information I would appreciate it. Mine is still in pretty good condition, but has one opening that could leak. Thanks, Tom/Idaho

Ive used shellac as well as gas tank sealer. have not had real good luck with either. seems like the cork deterirates over time and becomes absorbant.

Shellac was used for floats however shellac is mixed with ethanol to make a liquid. Gasoline containing ethanol will destroy the coating, better off going to an acrilic which will stand up. LOL
