I am currently restoring a 1961 JD 4010. The locks for the draft links are rusted into the draft link arm badly. Has anybody out there had this same problem and if so how did you rectify this problem? I know that I'll have to use heat on the arm casting but I think to much heat could be bad. Any info will be much appreciated. Thanks!

I put the whole bottom link in my shops wood stove untill it was red hot on half the link. After that i tap'd the the arm with a hammer for about half an hour and then i used compressed air to blow out the dirt and rust that was packed around the lock, repeat. then i soaked it in oil put a vise grip on the top of the pin and usd two screw drivers to Slowly pry up the lock tap it down pull it back up and repeat. it took me a whole day to do the two of them and now i take them apart every year and clean them and oil them and i have nt had any problems But it sure is nice when hooking it up to the plow.
