F-20 Pistons Free but Still Stuck

I have been working on the farmall F-20N again lately. I have finally freed the pistons, and in fact have removed 2. However, the engine is still stuck as the crankshaft will not budge. I have already ruled out the most obvious possibility, that of it being in gear. There is a little play in the output shaft (term?) and it is in neutral.

I need advice on what to do next to free up this engine.

Thanks,

Tony

I am working on an F-20 too and the engine is locked-up. How did you get the pistons loose?

I don't remember seeing this reply before, so I apologize for not responding. After soaking in various fluid for over a year, my ability to wait had drawn to a close. I took the head and oil pan off, took the lower ends of the rods off, and applied pressure upward as straight as possible to the rod. I applied pressure using a floor jack. At times, this did result in a lot of pressure, as the front of the tractor would lift up. In the end it worked well and does not appear to have caused any harm. One more thing I did was to use a hone very carefully on the top sides of two cylinders that had a lot of surface rust. I used one I bought as Sears that connected into a drill. I also used a wood block on the vylinder from the top so that I was not only applying pressure one way. But the breakthroughs came when lifting with the Jack. You have to use the block again to push the pistons out the bottom if you are removing them.

Thanks,

Tony

When you say "There is a little play in the output shaft" Are you refering to the transmission? Have you tried pushing in the clutch and moving the crank. If the front bearing on the transmission is froze up, It would make the engine appear to be stuck. Also if the clutch disk is froze to the flywheel, That would also make the engine appear to be stuck IF the front trans bearing was frozen also. Only other thing that I can think of is maybe a main bearing has siezed up.
