How is a 8V battery charged , with a battery charger that only has 6V & 12V charging system. I have heard ....to use a reostate (sp?) between one of the charger clips and battery post . or use a resistor to get 8V at the battery on the 12V setting. What size resistor would be required ? Any info is appreciated !!

I use an old 6v-12v charger, set on 6v high to charge my 8v batteries, never have a problem, just takes a little longer. I also use this setting to jump start the 8v tractors. I have a question?,where do you get 8v light bulbs or headlamps? Email me w/ answer. thank you, goober

James---Thank you for the reply,I hope that the charging advice was o.k. I am using 12v bulbs now,and they are a little dim.I think that an 8v bulb would be hard to find, but they must be out there someplace. Thanks again, goober

My tractor has no lights, But I believe 6V are OK ! or 12V may be a little dim.

It would probably be easiest, and work the best, to have an 8 volt battery charger built.
Give these people a call-- they can build it for you no problem:

3W Electronics of Minnesota
638 Mendelssohn Avenue North
Golden Valley, MN 55427
(763) 498-7630

I wouldn't think that it would be too expensive and they're good people to work with!

Hope this helps,
Nathan

Would a 6v charger set on high work for a 8v battery? Or a 12v charger set on low?

I'm not sure what the "High" and "Low" settings mean, but I would guess that it is probably high and low current, and if that's the case, no.

So sorry-- I posted the wrong phone number originally. It should be (763)593-2700.
