My ride-on has a Briggs & Stratton 8 HP motor on it which dies after about 10 minutes of running. Have cleaned tank & carby out. Still spark after it dies.
I'm no engine wiz so if you have a suggestion, please keep it simple.

Chris,

Check the routing of the fuel line, it may be routed to close to the engine, thus causing vapor lock(fuel is being heated to high). Otherwise thee other two posts are well worth examining.

Check the vent in the gas cap to make sure is open. I've fixed this problem on new mowers with the shipping plug left in the tank under the cap. Just an idea.

Check the spark plug wire to see if the heat from the engine softens the wire coating, making it bend down and touch the engine, thereby shorting out the wire! When the engine stops, by the time you pull the plug wire off, it may be cool enough to stiffen up, and you have moved the bad spot away from where it is touching! Also, look for a bare spot on the plug wire. And, try a new spark plug! Use Champion plugs! RJ

I have heard of this problem and most say they replaced the coil and all was good...
