I am repairing the hood on my styled B. I've seen practically all of the patches just screwed on top of the hood. I would like to know if anybody has put one on underneath the hood. Will it clear the steering column?? I want to bondo around it so that you can't tell it's been patched before I paint it. Thanks in advance!!!

You should be able to install the patch from the bottom. What I would do is flange the edges of the patch with an auto body panel flanging tool. If you don't want to buy one, then take the patch to your local body shop and they can do it for you for a couple of dollars. Don't flange the hump that goes around the steering shaft though. Once you get the panel flanged then set the patch on your hood and mark it's outline. Then take tin snips or a cut off wheel and cut out the old piece of hood about 1/4" to 1/2" to the inside of your marks. Once this is done you can trim the cut out to fit the patch perfectly. Once its fitted right drill 1/8" holes every 1" around the cut out in the hood. You can then clamp or screw the patch in place then plug weld your holes. Work slowly so you don't warp the hood. Once you are done with the plug welds, grind them down, clean the area and epoxy prime the patched area. Once primed you can apply body filler and sand until smooth. Hope this helps.
