got a 1954 NAA for Christmas,my first old tractor,so I'm new to this old stuff. The carb is in need of rebuilding, and when I took it off and turned it over, there is a small(about 1/4 inch)brass plug in the bottom, which has a small hole about in the center.Looking down the top of the carb i can see right thru this hole.Is this normal? Is this hole supose to be there? Thanks for any help,I'm sure there will be lots more questions to come.

I work on Lincolin welders, on their updraft carbs they al so have a a brass plug in the bottom. The plug has a dense cintered screen in the center. I have assumed that was for fuel to drain out if for any reason the float was not shutting off the fuel supply. I use carb cleaner to make sure it is clean, when clean you can hardly blow through it. I can not see through it. It must have some sort of screen or else you will be getting contaminates into the engine. Hope this helps.

Sounds like you are missing the mainjet or it has gotten water in it and frooze the carb should be a TSX428 and you a should be able to get a kit for it or you might want to get a new /rebuilt carb for it cost is around $170 for a rebuilt one

The carb is model TSX692,is this the wrong model for an NAA?When I took the carb apart there were no parts in the bottom.Does this explain why the tractor would idle but not rev up?Thanks Richie

That carb is for a 600 or 700 ford tractor. Sounds like you need a complete rebuild kit for it if you send me an e-mail I can give you a phone number for a place that has kits and or a carb oldcoal@earthlink.net
