I want to set up an electrolysis cleaner but no one ever heard of washing soda at the supermarket. So I typed 'washing soda' in the search bar and got 48,222 sites. That stuff must be realy important! On one site is a list of chemicals and related product and process patents, including washing soda. Right next to each patent list is a list of movie and tv stars and clicking on the name gets you Amazon.com and their sales pitch for movies and books. I located a mail order source, but the cost to ship is twice the product cost. All this is on the first page of 'washing soda'.
Check out line 4 if you use MS Explorer. Any experience with OxyClean type cleaner? It is sodium parcarbonate and sodium carbonate. I don't know what 'par' means, but it looks like a close relative of washing and baking soda.
All comments welcome.

Washing soda is sodium carbonate. Not bicarbonate. Not baking soda.

Again, washing soda is sodium carbonate.
Other names for sodium carbonate are carbonic acid, soda ash, and disodium salt.

I looked around the house for cleaners and checked ingredients. I found Cascade dishwashing detergent to have sodium carbonate. Go back down the detergent aisle at the grocery store and this time look at the ingredients.

Well, I finally found the washing soda at a nearby super market. It's Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda, 3lb 7 oz for $2.99.
I also found a 10lb box of baking soda at a restaurant supply for about $4.50.

Hi, SL
Others say it takes longer to remove the rust than washing soda. I'm not set up to try either one yet. I did locate a nice round tub, about 8" deep x 26" diameter with a snap on cover. Perfect for front wheel rims. Found it in a store that sells only storage items.

The local Kroger stores usually carry it in the detergent section of their store. Gene

I had the same trouble trying to find washing soda, seems nobody carries it around here. You can use just plain old baking soda and it will work just fine. I have been for quit some time now and I have had excellent results.
