My 1942 2N hydraulics do not seem to respond to the position of the quadrant lever. Starting at the bottom of the quadrant, the lift arms will rise to the highest position if the quadrant control is moved to any upward position. Intermediate steps between highest and lowest points make no difference. The same happens on desent of the lift arms. Is this the way it was designed or do I have a problem (and if so, whats the cure)? Many thanks, Pete in Mass.

Your 2N was not designed with "position control".

It only has draft control, a feature that raises and lowers a plow, or other drawn implement in response to the load on the implement, so the load on the tractor remains constant.

Go to: >Link

And>Link enter "position control" in the search box. I just did and got 2258 "hits". There are various explanations of the 2N system, and descriptions of an option or two to add position control to your tractor.
