I have a belt pulley that is hung up and will not slip off after removeing all of the out board clutch assembly. How can I avoid useing a puller and force? I do not want to damage the crank shaft

Sounnds like something is keeping the clutch release fork from sliding out of the groove on the operating collar. Did you remove the operating fork cover at the front of the first reduction gear cover,(right in front of the pulley, 4 bolts with 9/16" heads, and one pin in the lever linkage and be sure the clutch is disengaged. Makes it much easier to get out. Some times the operating toggles get worn and jump out of place and hold it engaged. You might get better advice on the John deere board.
