I am in the process of replacing a broken camshaft in a Kohler M20S and am running into trouble finding the timing marks on the crank. I have searched the crank gear with a fine tooth comb and can not find any mark. The only mark I can see is a raised line which appears to be cast just above the counter balance weight just behind the crank gear. The cam gear has a hole drilled for the mark. Should I allign this raised mark on the crank with the hole in the cam gear. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Chuck you have the correct marks, the raised line on the crankshaft and the drilled hole in the cam gear. The book says to put these together. Hope this helps.

Go to Kohler's site and download a service manual for FREE. (They're in .pdf format).
