My Cub has stuck the motor, I think water leaked in around the plug.

We started to pull the head, the middle outside bolt won't turn. The other head bolts came right out.

Any suggestions? I thought I would ask for advice before I tore anything up beyound repair. We have removed the manifolds and blown junk out of the block and have filled the cylidefs with WD-40.

Thank you both for your helpful replies.

We tried the torque and tapping technique, the bolt refused to budge. We used the wirefeed welder to weld a bigger nut on the top of the bolt, I think the heat from welding loosened the bolt, I was afraid to apply direct heat to the block or head. The head is off, we cleaned all the junk out of the cylinders, the Number 2 hole is stuck.I pulled the pan, you can see a rust streak coming down from the wrist pin.

The Farmall Cub site was very helpful, because of what I read there I was cautious about the amount of force we applied to the engine. Patience is a wonderful thing.

We partly filled the cylinders with PB, and tapped lightly on the pistons. We also tapped the con rod caps. The number 2 piston finally moved a couple of thousanths, we refilled the cylinders with PB and called it a day.

Anyway, thank you both for your words of wisdom, I think the Cub is back on the road to full health, and we haven't wrecked anything beyound repair.

You may be aable to remove that bolt.Try to find a heavy brass bar and get a good hammer at least two pound size.Place a box end wrench on the bolt head and get a strong pull on the wrench. While at this stage have some one place the brass on the bolt head and start tapping and work up to stronger hammer blows. There is a pretty good chance the bolt will turn loose.I realize that the brass will be hard to find,so if you donot mind damage to the bolt just strike the bolt directly. Caution;make certain that the wrench is thinner than the height of the bolt head or damage will result. When the head is off you might try removing the WD 40 and pour in some tuypentine.Available in the paint section in most hardware stores. Good Luck.
