I have a 1936 Allis B with a FM type 4B mag. It needs a new cap. Where could i find a new one? Also weak spark on cylinders 3&4. Could this be the cause, if not what else? Any help please.

To my knowledge most parts for that model are not availible new except for old stock. I watch Ebay and pick up parts for them now and then or a reputable magneto man should be able to help you out, caps are around in good used condition. The spark being weak on two cylinders could come from several places including bad wires on those two cylinders, carbon tracking in the cap or rotor, or possibly worn point cam. The rotor in that mag is a flat disk and insdie the cap are round carbon brushes with springs that hold them against the rotor. The rotors wear behind the contactstrip and cause the brushes to bounce, the springs get weak and the brushes themselves get worn down to unservicable lengths. These things could cause weak spark on individual cylinders also. Although the 4B was a decent magneto in it's day, a person who is not concerned with originality would be better served with a model FMJ or FMX. They are both bolt on replacements and parts are availible new for them. By the way your B is not a 1936, production models started in 1938. There was a short run of tractors in 1937 that had Waukesha engines.
