Kerosene K-1 and D-1 Diesel are very similar. The D-1 should have some different additives. Common diesel is D-2(#2 Diesel fuel). If you don't need to thin your diesel for cold weather and it's a diesel and not kerosene tractor I wouldn't waste time or money putting K-1 in the fuel. I don't know about California but in Kentucky #2 Diesel (off road, high sulfur, no fed tax, with state tax) is $1.09 per gallon and K-1 is $1.69. The K-1 is dryer and will not lubricate the pump as well. I used to add K-1 to my fuel (5 gallons per 30 gallons). Stopped about 6 years ago and just run #2. I put a bottle of Power Service in each 300 gallon bulk tank when I get it and haven't had any freeze ups or jelling.
