Have an old Massey that I have started restoring. It was running good till the carb must have filled up with crud. Then I got this brainfart.Since I want to keep it as original as possible and will need to do some other work before removing the gas tank, why not remove the gas line, lay it aside and make a temporary one with copper, cut it in two and install an in-line filter until the gas clears up or till I get it cleaned.Hmmm, got a couple other old timers I should do the same to.

I used Kreem in my motorcycle and tractor tank. Read about it at link below. Also heard good things about Por15. www.por15.com click on "fuel system restoration". No matter which product you select, you'll be glad you did.

I had the same problem with my gas tank. I had a lot of varnish and rust in the tank. I found that it was well worth my time and money to restore the inside of the tank. I did this by purchasing a kit from the Eastwood company. It is a gas tank cleaner and sealer kit. There are 12 or 13 steps to this process but very well worth the work. It removes all bad things from within the tank. Then you should be able to use your factory gas lines with out modifing them. Hope this helps. The kit if I remember right costs about $45-50.

Yes, and for those who choose not to do it themselves, most radiator shops will do it. Done correctly, it's a lifetime repair.

I used the Eastwood kit too on a Corvette. It works great. Don't count on a filter catching everything. It will do most of the work but I've still had stuff sneak by on more than one rig.
